How often must data be downloaded?
- Driver card data: download at least every 28 days
- Tachograph data (mass storage): download at least every 90 days
Retention periods
The downloaded data must be stored securely for a defined minimum period and protected against unauthorised access, so that it can be presented in full during an inspection or an audit. The exact duration should be clarified internally with the relevant department or against the applicable national provisions.

Incomplete or late downloads can not only create gaps in the data, delaying the internal analysis of driving and rest time infringements — they can also be inspected by enforcement officers and punished with fines.
